Maggie the Magnificent

“All his life he tried to be a good person. Many times, however, he failed. For after all, he was only human. He wasn’t a dog.” ~ Charles M. Schulz

Maggie the Magnificent by Rodney Merrill

Poor Maggie. When she is laying on her little cot, she reminds of a harbor seal. This 8 ½ year old girl came in obese. We’ve got her on a special diet. Even her snackies are low-cal. And we`re making sure she gets exercise every day. Mags has already lost about 10% of her weight!

Maggie is a tri-color Collie/Blue Heeler mix.. Her hair is normally longer and bushy, more like a Collie or an Australian Shepherd. But she was so hot carrying all that weight that we shaved her down for the time being.

Even though carrying the extra weight is difficult for her, Maggie is enthusiastic about her walks and trudges along at a slow but steady pace. She is a real trooper and an inspiration. We would really like to find her a home where she will continue her diet and keep up her exercise so that she can maintain a healthy weight.

She is also a sweet girl. She is happy to see people approaching her kennel and seems to like everyone.

Laura says “Maggie loves back scratches, takes (diet) treats gently and does a ladylike happy dance for walkies. She’s losing weight and will be an incredible walking companion for beach and dike explorations.”

For a loving girl with spirit and spunk, come down a visit Maggie.
